Live in daily solidarity
There are a lot of little things you can do that really will mean a lot. By doing an act of solidarity, you stand up for those living in poverty and walk with them.
Tomorrow, when you get dressed for school, look at the tags on your clothes. Where was your shirt made? Think about that country, and the people who live there. Think about the hands that made your shirt … the people who have touched it. Research what life is like for them. Pray for them as you go through your day … WALK with them throughout your day.
In developing countries, many people walk everywhere they go. This can mean they end up walking several hours each day. Ximena lives in Bolivia and walks two hours one way to school. Two hours – one way. And really, that isn’t uncommon. Can you imagine?
Commit to walk to school for a day. For just one day, you’ll understand a little more what it’s like to live in another country, and to live in poverty – which half of all children in the world do. Pray for these students and families as you walk. Gather some friends to WALK with you. Stand up for those living in poverty.
